Marko’s early experience included several labor positions on construction crews and experience in the Salt Lake City materials testing laboratory. Upon graduation, Marko began a career with a major contractor traveling throughout Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and California. His responsibilities varied from construction engineering to direct supervision of construction crews on both private and public transportation projects.
As his career progressed Marko was promoted to a Project Manager. He worked on several types of projects ranging from small trail jobs to large roadway reconstructs. Marko’s responsibilities included estimating, project startup, owner coordination meetings, personnel hiring and firing, writing of subcontracts, equipment selection, production, projections, scheduling, and final project closeout. Marko also owned and operated a small contracting business before he began working for Stanton Constructability Services, LLC. Early jobs with Stanton Constructability included the Independent Cost Estimates for CMGC projects. In early 2008 Marko helped to perform budget estimates, constructability reviews risk analysis, escrow document reviews, schedule reviews, and change order negotiations on the Access Utah County Projects. This led to a similar role with the startup of the I-15 Core project where Marko was the lead estimator for the Department. Marko’s responsibilities included establishing the budget and negotiation of costs associated with change orders.
Marko is involved in all aspects of the business including preparation and presentation of Independent Cost Estimates, CMGC negotiations (as the owner’s representative), preparation of large project engineer’s estimates, owner’s representative for change order negotiations, constructability reviews, and monthly schedule oversight, and pay application reviews.
